In an initiative from the team at The Academy of Contemporary Music the very first regional centre to open in the UK launched in January 2012. Located in Bournemouth on the South Coast, this thriving facility offers a range of courses previously unavailable outside of their Guildford base.
ACMR is the Academy’s way of ensuring more people have access to the ACM experience but at a location more convenient to them. Full and part-time courses are delivered within these Regional Centres utilising ACM curriculum and methodology. Each centre has to meet stringent quality control measures to maintain its approved status and ACM works in partnership to ensure each centre reaches its maximum potential.
Approved Regional Centres teach up to and including Further Education study. Each course is designed to progress naturally through to a Higher Education (HE) study level which can be undertaken at the main ACM in Surrey giving students a progressive study path. The very first of these centres is located in Bournemouth and is created in partnership with the team from The Music Factory.
“From the very first meeting we knew that the team at the Music Factory were ideal partners to develop the first UK Regional Centre. They had already built up a thriving part-time school and shared our values and aspirations. We are looking forward to building on this success with them to create a vibrant full and part-time study centre”
Julia Leggett Executive Director, ACM Commercial

We now have a vision which will start to unfold over the next year and the opportunities that are coming will make students in Bournemouth among the luckiest in the country. From the day that students start to study with us they should consider themselves to be in the music industry.
With a variety of courses that cover all aspects of the modern music industry there has never been a better time to start your musical career. Both full-time and part-time study will commence from 2012 and there will be more courses and opportunities added as the year progresses.
